I have tried to represent a period where the traveler is realising his sense of freedom: no troubles no ties. The caption is intended to give a sense of time, but in actual fact is more disorientating: has he left or running from a big event on his excursion? I decided to use a VW camper van as it was, for me, the symbol of the road trip. After looking at the other entries some way into the design it was fairly clear that everybody else had thought this way too... So I was glad that I had not used the VW as a central part and more hinted at the van; and what it represents. I had the idea that, should more designs be done, I could create more panels that would imply a story, but would be happier if the panels would be quite vague so that the viewer could imagine the events leading up to and preceding the shown image. But involve the same characters giving a snap shot into their trip. I have done the piece in the style of the underground comic scene and intentionally not chosen to us a colour scheme as it distracts from the power created by the black and white image.
